With the holidays right around the corner, it’s time to stock up on hostess gifts and gifts for your besties. I put together a quick gift guide that would be perfect for any hostess, friend or anyone who loves a good bar cart or some good coffee table styling. The Diptyque candle is my favorite gift to give and receive!
Last Wednesday we loaded up the car and drove 5 hours to get to Toronto for the 15th annual Professional Organizers in Canada Conference. It was held at the Chelsea Hotel in downtown Toronto and started Thursday morning and ended with a formal diner on Saturday.
We were very busy with the conference and didn’t get to explore Toronto all that much. However, we made the most of it and went to a few landmarks (Well, they’re landmarks according to us!): the CN tower, Holt Renfrew, J.Crew & Club Monaco. If you’ve ever been to the Club Monaco on Bloor than you know were not exaggerating when we say: Can we move in please? The store is absolutely beautiful. It even has a little market outside it where you can buy flowers or plants.
We learnt a lot from all the speakers and panelists and made new connections with organizers across North America. Our favorite part of any conference is always the networking. We met some great people and can’t wait to see them again next year in Vancouver for POC Conference 2016! If you’re looking for a professional organizer in your area make sure you check the POC website (Canada) or the NAPO website (USA).
When you love your clothes, you want to take care of them and The Laundress will do just that. We’ve already shared our love of The Laundress products here and here, but we thought we would explain how to use them.
Now pour yourself a glass of wine, light your favorite candle & put on some music, it’s time to hand wash your garments.
Step 1: Always pre-treat any stains, with the stain solution. Apply directly to the stain and then let soak in hot water for 15-30 mins.
Step 2: Pour 1-2 capfuls of wool and cashmere shampoo in a tub with warm water. Hand wash your sweaters and let sit for 30 mins.
Step 3: Rinse your sweaters with warm water.
Step 4: Do not wring dry. instead, place your sweater between 2 towels and roll it like you would a sleeping bag.
Step 5: Lay flat to dry.
Now your sweaters are ready to wear again! Make sure to use the fabric spray to keep your garments smelling fresh.
For delicates, follow the same steps and replace wool and cashmere shampoo with the delicate wash.
How cute is our little laundry helper? He loves to sleep on top of laundry piles and he frequently takes naps in laundry baskets around the house.
Let us know if you have any other questions about hand washing! And be sure to visit The Laundress’ website to find even more tips on laundering specific items.
Fall is finally here and we couldn’t be more excited to break out our boots! Maybe it’s the background in horseback riding, but we love to care for our fall boots like we would care for our riding boots before a show. We have been using Lexol products on our riding boots forever and we love using them on all our other boots to keep the leather in tip top shape.
There is nothing worse than trying to find your favorite t-shirt in your drawer. With traditional folding everything is piled on top of each other and it makes it difficult to see what is on the bottom. And once you find your shirt, those neat piles are no longer and you are left with an unorganized mess of a drawer. Making every item you own visible is the key to an organized closet, that is why Pliio is so popular amongst professional organizers. Pliio is a clothing filer that helps shape your clothes so they can be easily filed in your drawer or storage box. We strongly suggest this product to all our clients.
There are different sizes available. We use the small to fold workout tanks and camisoles and the medium to fold t-shirts. There is also a large size available, which is great for folding larger sweaters.
We put together a step by step guide on how to fold using the Pliio. It takes the same amount of time as regularly folding your clothes, but you’re left with a much neater result.
There is nothing worse than lugging all your clothes to the dry cleaner every other week and spending a fortune on all those bills. This is where The Laundress comes in. Their non-toxic products offer an at home dry cleaning alternative. Their product line is diverse and has something to tackle any of your laundry needs. We listed some of our musts for laundry day below.
Delicate Wash: This product is perfect for anything labelled dry clean only. We use it on all our silk Equipment blouses and La Perla delicates. It keeps everything in tip-top condition and has a better scent than those dry-cleaning chemicals.
Wool & Cashmere Shampoo: This product is great to hand wash all of those fall sweaters we just can’t wait to wear. It also has a subtle cedar scent that we love.
Stain Solution: From red wine to coffee to makeup this product can get rid of any stain! This product is our lifesaver and has kept our clothing looking their best.
Not only do these products work, keep our clothes smelling and feeling great , the packaging is over the top and will make a great addition to any laundry room.
